A Letter from the President

January 16, 2023

Dear Neighbor,

This year represents White Rock Neighborhood Association’s 70th anniversary and my first year as President.
WRNA serves the 350 households along the northwest side of White Rock Lake and is an all-volunteer organization
that works to protect the scenic beauty, tranquility, and quality of life in the following neighborhoods:

The Cloisters

Shore Acres (Fisher, W. Lawther, Wendy, Branchfield, West Bay)

Green Cove Estates

Maplewood

As we rebounded from COVID-19 in 2021, we focused on building community by keeping you informed
and making connections.  In 2022, we added a third objective, serve, to round out our mission.

Inform. Connect. Serve.

Inform – We continue to advise the neighborhood of zoning and safety issues and city projects that could affect
the quality of life here, and serve as a conduit for neighborhood input to the City. In our February meeting,
we will hear an overview of the draft ForwardDallas Master Plan update.

Connect – In October, we held our second annual “Night Out” of four “pod” gatherings to help build community
in our neighborhood with a root beer float social event.  In 2023, we are adding a single location “Spring Fling”
for all our member households.

Serve – In October, we handed out ice cream for the Rec Center’s National Night Out event.  On Christmas Eve,
we served dinner to our local Fire Station 55, accompanied by handwritten cards, and provided a new
window air conditioner and bath towels. We partnered with Friends of the SoPac Trail to fund and help
remove graffiti under the Mockingbird bridge, improve safety, and pick up trash. This year, we want to expand
our service to our first responders by sponsoring a Thanksgiving dinner for the Northeast Dallas Patrol Division,
in addition to supporting Fire Station 55 at Christmas. In 2023, we are forming a committee to focus on
enhancement projects for our neighborhood.

As residents, you are invested in our neighborhood and we are dedicated to making our neighborhood even better.
We hope you will join us!. Our first meeting of the year is on February 23, at 6:30 – 7:45 PM at Ridgewood-Belcher
Recreation Center.  (Please note the time change.) Please join or renew today! See the membership page for details.

Sincerely,

Charley Redden

President, WRNA
