Dear Neighbor,

I trust this letter finds you well and enjoying the serene beauty of our beloved White Rock neighborhood. As we bid farewell to 2023, the White Rock Neighborhood Association reflects on the strides we've made in preserving the scenic allure, tranquility, and overall quality of life within our community.

Established in 1953, the White Rock Neighborhood Association stands as one of the oldest neighborhood associations in Dallas. Bounded by the SoPac Trail, Mockingbird Lane, and the shores of White Rock Lake, our community comprises 350 residents residing in The Cloisters, Shore Acres, Green Cove Estates, and Maplewood.

Connect – This year, we welcomed new board members, Jeff Duchin and Liz Johnson, ensuring all areas of our neighborhood were well-represented. We held a neighborhood-wide Spring Fling in May and in October four Snow Cone Sunday Neighborhood Night Out events were held in each area, fostering a sense of community. Collaborating with Public Works and Planning and Urban Development, we successfully installed a new crosswalk at Fisher and Greentree, with plans for the installation of highly anticipated new sign toppers next year. We appreciate your continued support through donations and creative submissions.

Serve – In the past year, we launched the White Rock Neighborhood’s Beautification Committee comprising two representatives from each area. Our projects included:

·        SoPac Trail Shade Structure: $1,000 Donation to Friends of the SoPac Trail for a Shade Structure at the SoPac Respite Area.

·        Boulder Project: $5,500 Donation & $10,000 Fundraising Campaign supporting Dallas Park and Recreation in installing boulders along Fisher Rd, Williamson, and W. Lawther at the entrances of Maplewood, The Cloisters, Shore Acres, and Dalgreen Park. This project addressed illegal parking, erosion, and provided a sustainable replacement solution for rotten wooden bollards. We extend our gratitude to our sponsors: David Bush Realtors, Comerica Bank, Anfield Commercial, Republic Title, and Friends of the SoPac Trail.

As we envision a better neighborhood, we invite you to engage with us. Please consider joining or renewing your membership today and attending our first meeting of the year on February 23, at 6:30 PM at the Ridgewood-Belcher Recreation Center.

Thank you for your ongoing commitment to the White Rock community.

Sincerely,

Charley Redden

President
